About PRSP

The PRSP is one of the leading rehabilitation programmed of PIPOS aiming at provision of rehabilitation services throughout Pakistan particularly in KPK and FATA.

As a public sector organization it is markedly different from others because it is fully autonomous and self governing/self sustaining. This enables it to respond quickly to meet the emerging challenges in the field of prosthetics and orthotics.

The PRSP came into existence in 2007 however the Earthquake 2005 builds its foundation. One of the most important components of rehabilitation is the provision of assistive devices which enable the people with disabilities to become mobile and active contributors and independent members of the society. According to WHO/ISPO estimates, 0.5% of the general population in developing countries are in need of prosthetic and orthotic services (estimation based on WHO Guidelines, 2005),Keeping in mind the lack of awareness, poverty, lack of accessibility, financial barriers, natural disasters and the war like situation in KPK and FATA, the number of physically disabled has increased many folds. As a result the number of patients accessing to PRSP centers has greatly increased.
